Amending the Constitution This paper discusses Thomas Jefferson's asertion that the Constitution should be amended by a constitutioanl convention every thirty years to allow each generation to make its mark, an idea that in practice could be more damaging than beneficial and could alter the form of governemnt beyond all recognition, with the concern being that few people would be involved and that they could introduce all sorts of changes that would be harmfuol and would be anti-democratic at the same time.
