Ancient Greek Philosophy of Stoicism This paper examines the ancient Greek philosophic school of Stoicism founded by Zeno of Citium shortly after the death of Aristotle in 322 BC. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the particulars of this school of thought, particularly its division of philosophy into three distinct elements: logic, physics, and ethics. For the Stoics, the first two formed the foundation for a pursuit of the last.
